Everyone who lives in this sunny community loves both getting outdoors to take advantage of all that the trails, canyons, and parks have to offer, as well as hitting the town by day and night for entertainment. Many are drawn to the area for its large homes and excellent schools. Most residents own their homes and enjoy visiting the local coffee shops, restaurants, and businesses.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Carmel Valley offers unique and familiar food galore. International Smoke serves mouthwatering dishes, like woodfired steak, cedar-smoked salmon, and ribs. Head to Ruth’s Chris Steak House, for their classic sizzling, butter-topped steak. For superb French fare in an elegant dining room, make reservations for dinner at Addison, where you can choose between five- and ten-course menus and wine pairings. North Italia is perfect when you’re craving modern Italian foods in a cozy setting. Looking for something a bit more casual? URBN One Paseo, Spices Thai Cafe, and Marketplace Grille offer everything from Thai dishes to Mediterranean eats. Nearby Del Mar Highlands Town Center has even more dining options, with its newly opened Sky Deck featuring ten new restaurants atop an elevated deck with a view. Not to mention its great shopping options and Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Del Mar movie theater, for entertainment along before or after a meal.

Things to Do

1. Spend a day swimming or lying by the pool, playing tennis, or taking fitness classes at the Bay Club. Treat yourself to a golf retreat (or spa day!) at The Grand Golf Club. The Carmel Valley Recreation Center has open play for the kiddos and tons of classes to keep the family busy. Ashley Falls Park is a fun way to get outside and play, and so are all of the other four Carmel Valley parks. Want some nature time? Put on your hiking boots and head over to nearby open space Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve.
